It’s Time to Wing It: Poultry Recipes for You and Your Family
A staple in various households worldwide, poultry products have been prepared in countless ways and styles by using the meat or the eggs. The results are the same though – hearty and delicious food fit for memorable meals with family and friends. This versatility is a major reason why I love cooking poultry.
I always use pasture-raised poultry products in my dishes not only because they add flavor and depth, but provide vitamins and nutrients as well. The meat, especially in chicken, contains protein that helps strengthen your muscles. Pasture-raised eggs also have more amounts of vitamins A and E, omega-3 fats, and beta carotene, plus less amounts of cholesterol and saturated fat.
When buying poultry (meat or eggs), always make sure that you buy pasture-raised ones from farmers’ markets, community supported agriculture (CSA) movements, or directly from farmers or producers. Most of the conventional poultry that’s available nowadays are raised in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), where animals are cramped in small areas and are subject to harsh conditions. Although production is faster, the quality is being compromised in order to profit. More than that, CAFO products increase your risk of contracting viruses that can take a toll on your health.
